I am absolutely biased when it comes to this series, and find myself a firm member of the Victoria Aveyard fan club. This series what got me into bookstagram and fandoms. Opening up a whole new world to me. This is by far one of my most favorite reads and I obviously had to read it more than once.
This series is an absolute epic.
So let’s start the love at the beginning – the COVERS!!! The artist out done themselves. The crowns on each book is unique and so extremely detailed to fit the inside. Every time I see these I just appreciate the effort more and more. Also, where can I buy one of these?! I feel like this is an epic accessory, we should all just start wearing crowns every day!
The characters are love, hate and hate to love all in one. Aveyard has a talent for creating characters that will have you wanting to kiss, kill and marry them. The guys are dreaming and annoying, masculine and irritating, and the girls – let’s just say I enjoyed the catty banter.
This fandom is epic – especially when it comes to memes. I am a fervent member of the Scarlet Guard, hoping to see the amazing sites of Montfort and absolutely wish I could have a conversation with Mare, Cal, Maven and Farley. The fanart is stunning and the quotes are salty.
Plot twist, plot twist, plot twist – Aveyard is the queen of through you off course. Expect the unexpected. This action packed adventure of a country in revolt will have you hooked from page 1. Giving you flashbacks of the Hunger games meet Xmen, this magical system is one of the best thought out I have encountered.
World building that will have you wishing to see these sites. The detail in the maps get more elaborate as the story goes and the world unfolds. Aveyard is not shy with descriptions, making it so easy to see what this world looks like.
Stick through till the end – book 3 might seem tedious, but partner that with the Queen’s Song Novel and you will appreciate the brilliant mind that is Victoria Aveyard.

The Series

Synopsis: This is a world divided by blood – red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.
