My friend and I had an enlightening conversation on Historical Fiction and the significance of telling stories. My conclusion was that just because the significant event was horrible does not mean there was no room for beauty, love and self discovery. In my opinion, the hope that exists in those dark moments through love and beauty, often help us survive these horrible events, and inspire us to do better, to live better and to love better.

There is something completely magical about Historical Fantasy Fiction. And this cover, as beautiful as it is, did not do this book justice. So excuse me while I pack my bags to get whisked away to 1789, Paris in a hot air balloon. (Completely ignoring my fear of heights.)

To say that this book changed me is an understatement. As a little girl, I adored the Disney film, Anastasia. Till this day I find myself humming the soundtrack. The story of the orphan girl surviving the revolution that killed her family touched me to my deepest core
