Gargantis

For me, the return trip to Eerie-on-sea was everything I hoped for and more! I didn’t want it to end. I am absolutely on edge for more of Herbert Lemon and Violet Parma’s adventures in this mystical small town.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan SA Kids for gifting me a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Upon your return trip to Eerie-on-sea make sure you pack for bad weather. You haven’t heard? When Gargantis wakes, Eerie quakes!

Follow Herbert and Violet as they try to solve the mystery of the of the Gargantic light in this seas and storms adventure. Herbie has to face his fears of the ocean in order to restore the light to its rightful owner. But a new mysterious visitor to Eerie makes this task immensely difficult.

Taylor doesn’t disappoint in this sensational sequel. Building on the mystical atmosphere in Malamander, Gargantis creates high expectations from page 1. More intense and even more action packed than the first novel, I was quickly sucked into the world of mystery, legends and monsters.

With new and returning characters, I was quickly entranced by this story and found it compelling and easy to read. I cannot wait to see what other adventures Eerie-on-Sea has instore for us.

With breathtaking and complex world building, this novel will be a fantastic addition to any shelf. Pack your bags and visit Eerie-on-Sea. Hit all the tourist stops and maybe a new location or two.

This is a great gift for any young reader who loves all things mystical and magical.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

On your return trip to Eerie-on-sea, there are a few things you should know. Number 1, The Lost and Foundery at the Grand Nautilus Hotel is a very esteemed position. Number 2, the Malamander is not the only legend in town and Number 3, always, always keep an eye on the misty shadows during winter.

Has the mighty Gargantis returned? A ferocious storm is raging in Eerie-on-sea. An ancient artefact filled with a wondrous light has washed up on the beach. And a mysterious hooded stranger has just checked into the Grand Nautilus Hotel.

Herbie and Violet know that these events are connected – and that they must act fast to save the town. But their investigation may just lead them to the cold, dark bottom of the sea…

Join me on a return trip to the little town of Eerie-on-sea and let’s go Monster hunting.

*disclosure – no monsters were harmed during the writing of this caption.

About the Author:

Wales born Thomas Taylor has had a talent for illustrations from a young age. Although he’s start to reading took a bit longer, he soon fell into story worlds like Lord of the Rings and The Three Investigators. Authors like Terry Pratchett, Allan Garner and Rosemary Sutcliffe helped develop his reading habit to what it is today.  He studied at both the Norwich School for Art and Design and Art School in Cambridge. This inspired his career as a children’s book illustrator.  After about a year of working at Heffer’s Children’s Bookshop, Bloomsbury Publishing offered him his first book cover. Maybe, you have seen his work? He is the talented creator of the original Harry Potter covers.

Soon he realised that he wants to not only illustrate but write as well. This led to several great books for you to enjoy.
